GO YOUR OWN WAY

This year is the year, 2015 I expect big things from you. Every year I tell myself the same thing this year is the year, get over the fear and chase those dreams, and 365 days later I look back and I’ve taken a detour, the fear has crept back and the excuses start to roll off my tongue like a memorised exam paper from 1999. For as long as I can remember my goal was always to design my own label, I studied textiles at university, I then went onto to study Fashion Design. I wound up deflated and disillusioned when the Head of RMIT design school told me I would never make it and failed my 2nd year assessment. I never went back for my third and final year, and I didn’t pick up a pen for many years after that, maybe in hindsight this was a blessing in disguise, because who I was at 23 is much different to who I have become in my 30s, so 2015 you are finally my year.

The idyllic life – Sunkissed skin + salty hair + endless summer days that turn into balmy nights. Unfortunately this doesn’t last forever and back to work reality is just 6 days away, it was heaven while it lasted.

CLOUD DANCER

What to wear to that Christmas party, that requires a look that is somewhere between dressy and ‘I haven’t tried too hard’.. my answer Midi dress + Blazer + Slides = a perfect, comfortable, understated look. The Cloud Dancer dress by Talulah is a great option, as it offers a sexy fitted silhouette with a slightly low cut back and spaghetti straps, plus the mesh overlay means it’s both mini and a modest length at the same time.

THE NEWCOMERS

One of the things that most excites me about being in this industry is getting to experience the talent that is up and coming in the local market first hand. Both Anna Quan Third Form are relative new comers to the scene, but both are  destined for big things, with clean, sophisticated, yet directional aesthetics, I thought it only fitting to pair these two together, and top it off with the updated Lucie clutch from local Melbourne label The bag department.

SAND DRIFT

Keeping things simple in a silk camisole, perfectly tailored trousers and my ever faithful slides. These trousers are a recent purchase from Paris and possibly the only pair other than jeans that have fitted me like a glove from go to woe, no letting hems down or running in legs (which has been a recurring scenario since I was a teenager).
