I have been highly anticipating the Proenza Schouler Spring 12 Collection, and yesterday eagerly logged on to view the live stream on their website, only to be disappointed that the website wasn’t loading. Finally the wait is over and the collection does not disappoint. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s Proenza Schouler is renowned for its combinations of print, texture and colour, and Spring 12 is no exception. The collection has an ultimately feminine aesthetic with references to the ladylike sensibility of the 40s; cinched in waists and retro inspired prints of palm and floral motifs. However a bold colour palette of Coral, Chartreuse and Orange accented by Mustard Yellow and Mint Green, combined with an explosive clash of prints, makes this collection undecidedly modern. Midriffs, strong shoulders, and thigh high splits all made an impression, making Proenza Schouler Spring 12 an undoubtedly lust worthy collection.
