Composure

Shooting when your best friend is behind the lens allows for some completely candid shots, often of you (well me) loosing composure and being completely natural. And while I’m trying to pull myself together, the camera continues snapping away. In this instance it led to one of my favourite shots of the day that totally captures the moment, and a series of photos that has ended up somewhat reflecting the balance of this outfit and my personality, with a more serious side; the linear and minimalist button up shirt, against the fun loving; asymmetrical, graphic and slightly quirky skirt.

Breathless

Blue has been touted as the new black this season, and although I don’t think anyone should be without a LBD in their wardrobe, this Maurie & Eve Dress in cobalt blue is a stunning alternative, and one I have become quite smitten with. I’ve always been one to sport a mini, (even in this freezing weather we are currently experiencing, I’m still refusing to put on a pair of opaques) however, this just above the knee length is beginning to be my first choice, especially teamed with a pair of killer heels. Its a much more practical length for Winter and the high neck adds to the modern Winter aesthetic.

Steve Madden SS13 Preview

Madden’s Spring 13 collection takes us on a trip from 90s surf grunge to the new modernist movement with a sprinkling of rock star in between. This season the Madden girl has grown up, opting for a no nonsense approach to style, with clean lines and structured silhouettes. Block heels in reflective finishes, and metal plate accents on flat sandals give a sleek modern look.

From beaten up midi boots in distressed leathers, decorated with burnished buckle and stud details, to crochet espadrilles and slip on flats, Spring 13 is an ode to the 90s surfer girl, with neon accents and clashing prints to boot.

For the party girl in all of us single sole heels are updated with diamante straps and embellished heels for sultry summer nights.

The Spring 13 collection is due to hit stores this coming August.
